Top Tips for Seeing Macon in Full Bloom
Come relax and enjoy the beautiful blossoms of spring in Macon at this year's International Cherry Blossom Festival, from March 20th to the 29th. Here are a few tips, tricks, and things you can't miss!
WHEN WILL THE TREES BLOOM?
The festival is held across the 10 days that give us the highest probability of seeing our cherry trees enter peak bloom. The festival's original founder, William A. Fickling Sr., kept a log to track the bloom period for over 10 years.
To ensure the trees are blooming for your arrival, we recommend watching our live BloomCam! Make your trip easy. Keep guessing out of the equation and track the boom for free!

Here's what you can't miss
As the Cherry Blossom capital of the world, Macon goes all out for bloom season. The International Cherry Blossom Festival is chock full of events that will leave you dreaming in pink.
Stake your claim at the barricade and watch Dachshunds dash downtown on Cherry Street to compete for the distinguished title of "Fastest Wiener Dog in Middle Georgia" at everyone's favorite Wiener Dog Race.
For twice the fun, you can even watch these pups cool off on Second Street at the Ultimate Air Dog Dock Diving Competition!
The Fun Never Stops
Don't forget to move on over to Carloyn Crayton Park where you can keep seeing our furry friends at the Bengal Tiger Encounter.
For the *cherry* on top, make sure to save time for the world class Royal Legacy Circus! This show-stopping act has performed at the Ringling Brothers Circus, NBA halftime shows, and now, the International Cherry Blossom Festival.
Tune into the excitement as Sara Twister practices foot archery and Mighty Mike juggles bowling balls and sledgehammers!
A path through time
A trip to Macon is never complete without exploring the city's deep cultural ties, with a rare view at the Ocmulgee Mounds. The mounds are sacred land to the first known inhabitants of Macon, the Muscogee Creek Nation, who established flourishing village along the river with the Cherokee and Uchee Native Americans.
Let the sight brighten your night at their Lantern Light Tour – exclusive to Cherry Blossom season. Not everyone has a change to experience the mounds at nighttime. Don't miss out on yours!
Where do I park?
You can find amusement rides, games, daily concerts and food vendors every day at Carolyn Crayton Park – just be sure to check the hours of operation. There will be free, designated parking.
When you head downtown to watch the Wiener Dog Races or Third Street Park fun, you can choose between paid hourly parking or a few paid parking garages.
The Ocmulgee Mounds will have free parking available to those who want to explore the site under the stars.
