The Hillbilly Thomists
Overview
The Hillbilly Thomists are a bluegrass and Americana band made up of Dominican friars from the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, D.C. Rooted in the thought of St. Thomas Aquinas and the Dominican tradition of preaching, the friars blend faith, storytelling, and music in a way that reflects the beauty of grace at work in ordinary life. Since releasing their debut album in 2017—which reached #3 on the Billboard Bluegrass Chart—the band has toured nationally, performed at the Grand Ole Opry House, and released multiple charting albums including Living for the Other Side, Holy Ghost Power, and Marigold. Through music shaped by contemplation, joy, and the mystery of the Incarnation, the Hillbilly Thomists continue their mission of preaching the Gospel while supporting the formation of future Dominican friars.
