Riverside Cemetery
Overview
History lives at this beautifully landscaped cultural landmark. Costumed actors bring to life the stories of people who reside in the cemetery on guided walking tours in October and during Macon’s annual March Cherry Blossom Festival. Group tours can be booked year-round. Full Moon photography event each April. Stop in during office hours for a self-guided tour map with 89 numbered sites. Walk, jog or drive through 125 acres which include rolling hills, beautiful monuments and plantings, and serene green spaces. Riverside Cemetery was established in 1887 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is the final resting place for more than 18,000 people representing many ages, faiths, races, and national creeds.
