Tourism is the lifeline for so many. From hotels to local businesses to Macon citizens, tourism-generated business and tax savings has a tremendous impact on our community.
Last year’s economic impact report proves that our travelers are ready to venture out again and are adding Macon to their travel plans. This year’s economic impact data will be released at Visit Macon’s Annual Celebration on November 8.


Visit Macon FY22 Annual Report
An estimated $369.9 million was spent by visitors in Bibb County in 2021. That’s a 26.3 percent increase over 2020.
Each night, an average of 10,000 visitors stay in Macon-Bibb hotels and motels, and the taxes those visitors pay – both hotel/motel and sales tax - stay right here in Macon. Recent data shows that 4.6 million visitors stayed an average of 4.3 nights, which is almost half a night more than the national average. Thanks to the spending from visitors to Macon-Bibb County, each household in the County saved $537.80 in household taxes.
