Churches & Cemeteries
Macon, Georgia’s crown jewels are its several churches and cemeteries that hold the city’s cultural, architectural, and historical significance.
St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and First Baptist Church of Christ are two of the oldest churches in Macon that are right downtown and have beautiful architecture. Rose Hill Cemetery and Linwood Cemetery are two of the oldest cemeteries that house some of Macon’s most prominent residents. These churches and cemeteries not only serve as places of worship and remembrance, but also as repositories of Macon’s history.
