Scenes of racing were filmed throughout Downtown Macon. The “racing” took place at relatively low speeds. In addition, the exit from Interstate 75 that leads to Hardeman Avenue and Forsyth Roads was used. None of the businesses on those streets were changed, and many of the present-day businesses, and their signs, can be seen in those scenes.
Black Widow (2021)
The Terminal Station is used as a bus station in Albany, New York. Scenes were filmed in the lobby and restrooms of the Terminal Station and viewers can see a SWAT Team member stationed on the roof of the Tubman Museum as William Hurt is seen walking into the Terminal. Macon was initially scouted for school buildings and neighborhoods, as well, to play for schools and neighborhoods in Ohio..

If you go....Visit Luther Williams Field in Carolyn Crayton Park. Second Street, also featured in the film, was beautifully transformed into 1940s Brooklyn. The Macon Terminal Station stands-in as an airport. The photo below was taken at Third and Plum Street.
The Color Purple (2023)
Scenes were filmed at the Douglass Theatre and at the corner of Third and Poplar Streets. A gas station was constructed in the park at the corner of Third and Poplar, just for the production.
Lovecraft Country (2021)
Episode 9 features pyrotechnics on Second Street, which played for Tulsa, OK during the 1921 Tulsa race riots. A large green screen was used to enable the film to “place” the Dempsey Hotel (at the corner of Third and Cherry Streets) at the end of Second Street. Filming in Macon was delayed multiple times due to inclement weather. Ultimately, the production had to move to another community and come back to Macon nearly a week after originally scheduled.
