Robert Lee Coleman
Overview
Robert Lee Coleman is Macon, Georgia's living blues legend. He grew up here and began his professional career at 19 years old as a member of Percy Sledge's touring band from 1965-1970. In 1970 he joined the JB's, James Brown's backing funk and soul outfit and toured with Brown until 1973. His live playing can be heard on Revolution of the Mind, the live album recorded at the Apollo Theater in New York. For decades Mr. Coleman has played the venues of Macon and acted as a mentor to many of the city's finest young musicians, many of whom have gone on to noted careers of their own in the rock and blues world. Whether you've seen him through the years or not at all, young and old, every Macon music lover owes it to themselves to come see the man who, at 80 years of age, may still be the best guitar player in Georgia. And Grant's is his favorite place to play!!!
