Macon Film Guild: SKATEGOAT
Overview
SKATEGOAT is a telling documentary that examines the life and times of an African American skating sensation- Leandre "Skategoat" Sanders- who is also a mainstream social media influencer.
Born into a world of gangs and crime in Hawthorne, California, Leandre a/k/a Skategoatgrew up watching his older brothers follow his parents into LA’s violent street life, but decided to spend his days at Venice Beach Skatepark, where he caught the eye of filmmaker Van Alpert, who documented his life for over a decade.
As Leandre's personal family life unraveled, his unique ‘no stance’ skate style took off. And at the age of sixteen, Leandre went to Melbourne, Australia, where he lived for over two years and where this young African American man's dream of becoming a professional skater started to become a reality.
