Hay House and Bear’s Books present this year’s Jordan Massee Lecture with acclaimed writer John T. Edge as he discusses his powerful new memoir, House of Smoke, in conversation with journalist Josephine Bennett.
About John T. Edge:
John T. Edge is the author of House of Smoke: A Southern Goes Searching for Home and the host of TrueSouth, the National Emmy Award-winning television series airing on SEC Network, ESPN, Disney, and Hulu. He pens a regular restaurant column for Garden & Gun and is the author of The Potlikker Papers: A Food History of the Modern South (2017), which was recognized as one of the year’s best books by NPR and Publishers Weekly. At the University of Mississippi, Edge serves as a teacher, writer-in-residence, and director of the Mississippi Lab. He also mentors emerging writers in the low-residency MFA program in narrative nonfiction at the University of Georgia. He lives in Oxford, Mississippi, with his wife, artist Blair Hobbs.
