The Douglass Theatre's BHM FILM SERIES is an annual curated selection of film screenings that encompasses inspiring cinematic treasures, past and current, that illustrate a piece of Black History and African American storytelling that are entertaining and enlightening. From documentaries to action stories, the film series is one that inspires. It is sponsored by Cox Communications.

FEB 27: Fannie Lou Hamer's America (2022). An original documentary told through the public speeches, personal interviews, and powerful songs of the fearless Mississippi civil rights activist, Fannie Lou Hamer. Known for being "sick and tired of being sick and tired" the archive footage in this documentary is often accompanied by Fannie Lou Hamer singing her own songs and her impassioned pleas for equal rights. This film will also include a talk back panel.
