Christmas Light Extravaganza
November 27,2026 - January 3, 2027
Each Christmas, Macon casts its own kind of spell. Glowing lights, familiar melodies and drifting bubbles transform the heart of Georgia into a Christmas wonderland. It is a kind of magic you can see, hear and feel all around you.
What is the Christmas Light Extravaganza?
Each year, a multi-colored canopy of over one million twinkling lights covers the streets of downtown Macon.
Twinkling lights synchronized to newly produced music, arranged by the Macon Pops orchestra, hug 5.5 blocks of downtown. The nightly shows have quickly made the Macon Christmas Light Extravaganza one of Middle Georgia’s best holiday traditions.
As you stroll through this beautifully lit setting, you can meet Santa and his reindeer, warm up with delicious hot chocolate and browse downtown shops for the perfect holiday gift. The experience is set amid Macon’s walkable urban core, where dining, shopping and entertainment blend into one cheerful holiday outing.
Tune In to the Magic
Wander beneath glowing archways, where thousands of twinkling lights shimmer overhead and wrap you in the warmth and wonder of the holiday season. Can’t make it in person? Settle in at home, cue up the curated holiday playlist, and watch the magic unfold in real time on the Merry Cam. And if you’re taking it all in from the comfort of your car, roll through the glowing wonderland with your favorite people, let the lights dance across your windshield, and tune your radio to 89.1 FM.
With every melody drifting through the speakers and every display glowing to life, Macon’s Christmas Light Extravaganza turns an ordinary evening into a holiday tradition worth savoring.
Come share in the excitement as the season’s lights come to life and a beloved holiday tradition shines a light on the importance of a place to call home.
Light More Homes
Each holiday season, Macon Area Habitat for Humanity brings a little extra brightness to the community with its annual Christmas light display. Colorful lights glow against the winter night, festive scenes bring smiles to visitors of all ages and the spirit of giving shines just as brightly as the decorations themselves.
Beyond the seasonal cheer, every twinkling light supports a meaningful mission: raising funds to build homes for families in Macon-Bibb and Jones counties.
Flip the Switch on December 3 will kick-off the experience! You are invited to join Macon Area Habitat for Humanity in Mercer Village as they recognize sponsors and contest winners.
