Macon Music at The Robert McDuffie Center for Strings
This is symphony… redesigned! From touring with childhood friend and famous R.E.M. bassist Mike Mills — to serving as co-founder and artistic director for the Rome Chamber Music Festival in Rome, Italy — Grammy-nominated violinist, Robert McDuffie, has played as a soloist with most major orchestras from all around the world!
In 2004, Robert McDuffie formed The Robert McDuffie Center for Strings of Mercer University where student musicians at the top of their fields, perform, collaborate and record with the finest orchestras, string ensembles and conductors around the world. The Center is located on College Avenue in Macon’s historic landmark ‘The Bell House’ — the house featured on the album cover for the Allman Brothers Band’s first self-titled album!
Four times a year, the extraordinary McDuffie Center artists collaborate with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra for the Macon-Mercer Symphony Orchestra! From hip-hop to classical legends, Macon-Mercer Symphony Orchestra concerts are an electrifying display of art and musical excellence!
