Macon Beyond: Exploring the Awe-Inspiring Big House in Macon, Georgia
Welcome to one location in Macon, Georgia, where a mysticism has been brewing in many, many forms for over 100 years.
This 'Big' house was built in 1904 by the last former Confederate Governor of Georgia. It continued to evolve as it changed owners throughout the years until finally, while sitting vacant in 1969, Linda Oakley (wife of a founding member of The Allman Brothers Band) discovered the property.
Linda rented the home, and it soon became a gathering place where the band, roadies, friends, and family created their own brand of magic for years, which will inspire generations to come. Mysterious experiences have been a part of this house's story for as long as you can trace back. Is it possible that these legendary musicians harnessed that energy into the world-shaking creativity that left a lasting imprint on this historic Southern town?
The Big House Museum will forever be a place of mysticism and awe for many who journey through its doors. Whether a die-hard fan, a spiritual explorer, or just wanting to bask in the halls of creative inspiration, you can’t help but wonder how one house can hold so much power. Investigate with us (if you dare) the wonders of what lies within this magical display of love! Join us... for Macon Beyond.
