Bicentennial Park
Overview
Bicentennial Park in East Macon was created to celebrate the city’s 200th anniversary and reflect on the deep history of the land along the Ocmulgee River. Just steps from the ancient Ocmulgee Mounds, the park brings together public art from local, national, and international artists to tell Macon’s story—past, present, and future. Sculptures like “ECKE — Mother Ground” by Muscogee (Creek) artist Kenneth Johnson, which honors the Indigenous homeland of the Muscogee (Creek) people, and “Even Walls Can Move” by Ilan Averbuch, a striking piece made from salvaged brick and steel symbolizing transformation and unity, invite visitors to pause, reflect, and consider how Macon continues to grow from its history.
