Ocmulgee Indigenous Celebration
Overview
In celebration of Southeastern Native American cultures, Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park & Ocmulgee Mounds Association will host the Ocmulgee Indigenous Celebration September 14-15, 2024. The celebration will feature traditional dance, cultural crafts, storytelling, educational programs, live demonstrations, & music. Native American arts and crafts vendors will be selling their crafts and food will be available for purchase.
The Celebration is a homecoming to the Muscogee people who consider Ocmulgee Mounds their ancestral homeland. Named one of the Top 20 Events in the Southeast by the Southeast Tourism Society, the Celebration shares this vital piece of American history with visitors, allowing you to learn about Native American heritage, arts, and cultures first-hand through interaction and observation.
The event aims to bring together many Native American communities with traditional and contemporary elements that highlight and celebrate the beauty and important contributions of the Native Peoples to Georgia and the Southeast.
Rediscover the mounds and Earth Lodge, Visitor Center, trails, and nature within the park. Parking will be down the road at the Macon-Bibb Health Department 171 Emery Hwy. A free, handicap-accessible shuttle will take you right to the event gate.
